Who Am I?

Hello,

My name is Autumn and I am a 33 year old Stay at Home Mom of two boys.  I am also a Navy veteran and a Navy Wife.  I USED to be in shape, I used to love the outdoors, I used to run. I want to be those things again and I want to be in Wildlife Management or be a Game Warden.  The problem is I'm not in the shape needed to hold this job.  And honestly I could leave it there, give up the dream and move on to something else but I don't want to.  I want to be the me I dreamed about being as a kid.  So I'm going to use this blog to journal my journey from here to there.

Let's start with the now, today I am 5'2" and 209.1 lbs.  Which puts me at a BMI of 38.  I think the BMI is useless because it doesn't account for muscle or bone structure but for right now it's what I got.  I shall have my husband take measurements for me later today and edit them in. But for now we'll work with what I have.  I would like to be somewhere around 120 lbs and in excellent physical shape.  Ie. I can hike all day and not want to fall over, I can lift up a 100 lb object if needed, I can do what I need to do in order to perform my dream job.

Well now that we've gotten the before pictures inserted now I can go and work on making after pictures.  To accomplish this I intend to break my large goal down into several smaller goals.  For instance 5lb intervals.  My theory being that mini goals are a lot less intimidating then saying I need to lose 89 lbs.  Which is roughly the weight of my sons combined.  So mini goal #1 would be to weigh 205 lbs.  I know it's not quite 5 lbs but I need to break the 9.  And I'm ok with my first mini goal being just slightly easier to reach.

To reach these goals I'm going to be keeping track of my calories burned through BodyMedia (you can see it in the pictures) and MyFitnessPal.  Basically Calories In < Calories Out.  No magic diet pills (or beans) and no gimmicks.  This might take a long while but it will be worth it in the end.  I'm going to start with walking to boost my calorie burn, because it's low impact and my joints will appreciate that for at least a few lbs.  PLEASE NOTE:   I did check with my Dr first about both diet and exercise and I urge you to do the same before starting any weight loss program.
